The Senegalese national team’s fans continue to support their team in all global and African tournaments, with their latest show of support being during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, where the Lions were eliminated in the round of 16.
The Senegalese team had suffered a 3-0 defeat against the English team in the round of 16 of the FIFA World Cup. The Teranga Lions did not deliver the expected performance in the match, appearing toothless against the Three Lions. The English players moved around the field freely and managed to secure an easy passage to the next round.
The Senegalese national team has participated in the FIFA World Cup on 3 occasions. Their first participation was in 2002 when South Korea and Japan co-hosted the tournament, and they reached the quarter-finals in that edition. Their second participation was in the 2018 World Cup held in Russia, but they were unable to progress past the group stage in that tournament. They then participated in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and were eliminated in the round of 16.
